Recent Grants
At a time of considerable uncertainty in our communities, particularly for those relying on safety net services, we are pleased to share an update from The Jewish Fund. Our Board of Directors has approved a new program of urgent needs grants which will be available to assist our grant partners who have lost federal or state funding through recent administrative actions. A rolling application and approval process is being launched which we hope will prove helpful to these partners.
We were also proud to announce the approval of just over $1 million in new and continuation grants at our May board meeting. These grants will support a range of initiatives to address the health and well-being of vulnerable and underserved residents of metropolitan Detroit. Among the grants made in this cycle, we are very pleased to partner with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeast Michigan to expand its behavioral health programs and Cass Community Social Services to equip its emergency shelter with individual and private bathroom and shower facilities for its guests. We are also very pleased to support Journey to Healing’s trauma-responsive treatment services at Turning Point emergency shelter. The Fund is also continuing its support of Kevin’s Song as it expands its suicide prevention training, which will be directed toward faith leaders and first responders. A new grant to support play and recreation activities for children with special needs was awarded to Yeshivah Beth Yehudah to help fund the building of a new inclusive outdoor playground. Capacity building grants were also awarded to Jewish Family Services and Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network.
We encourage individuals and foundations interested in learning more about the impactful work of our grant partners to contact The Jewish Fund.
