Bloomfield Hills, MI – At its 5th annual meeting on November 19th , the board of trustees
of the Jewish Fund named David K. Page the new chair and Robert H. Naftaly the vice chair.
Stepping down from a five-year term, and graciously acknowledging the tribute of the board, co-founding chair, Mark E. Schlussel stated, “It’s been a great privilege to serve the mission of this remarkable Fund, which has provided over $18.3 million in grants to benefit the lives of more than 50,000 people in metropolitan Detroit.”

A senior partner in the Detroit law firm of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, having served as director of a number of public and private companies, Page is a longtime business and civic leader who brings a depth of executive experience to his new position. In addition to chairing The Jewish Fund, Mr. Page’s current board appointments include: Trustee (former Chairman) of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan; Trustee of the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan; Advisory Board Member of the Detroit Chamber Music Society; Trustee (former Vice Chairman) of the Detroit Medical Center; Director and Vice-Chairman of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy; Member, Board of Governors and Executive Committee (former President) of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit; Director of the Karmanos Cancer Institute; Member of the Board of Governors for the United Jewish Foundation; Director, United Way Community Services and Co-Chairman of its Community Leaders Council; Trustee and Chairman, Investment Committee of The Kresge Foundation; Director of Rose Hill Center; Advisory Board Member of Volunteer Impact; Member (founding Chairman) of Board of Visitors, Wayne State University School of Medicine; Advisory Board Member, City Year Detroit and Trustee (former President) of Temple Beth El.

Federation’s most recent Butzel Award recipient, Naftaly is a retired CPA with a wide-ranging career that has spanned public accounting, government service and the health care industry. He is past president of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, past chair of the Executive Committee,
and founding co-chair of Federation’s Alliance for Jewish Education. Beyond his extensive service to Federation, Naftaly serves as treasurer for the Anti-Defamation League, where he chairs the Audit Committee. For his efforts he was recognized with the Champion of Liberty Award.

Recently, Naftaly was appointed transition budget director to the gubernatorial transition team of Governor-elect Jennifer Granholm. A tradition of caring, The Jewish Fund was established in December 1996 from the sale proceeds of Sinai Hospital to the Detroit Medical Center. Sinai Hospital was a Jewish community funded facility that grew into one of metropolitan Detroit’s top health care institutions. The Jewish Fund Board of Directors remains committed to continuing Sinai Hospital’s tradition of sustaining, enriching and addressing the overall health care needs of both the Jewish community and broader community in the greater Detroit area.
