Martha Goldberg

Martha Goldberg has joined The Jewish Fund as the Coordinator of the Teen Board. The Teen Board is a new initiative, seeking to develop teens as “philanthropists” and engage them in hands-on grantmaking which supports the mission of The Jewish Fund.

Ms. Goldberg has been working within Jewish community organizations since 1997, and brings experience in program planning, fundraising, committee work, evaluation, and outreach. She began her career at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus, where she worked for 10 years coordinating and supervising programs in the area of children, youth and camping, early childhood education, and interfaith outreach. Since returning to Michigan, she has held positions in the Women’s Department of The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and at Congregation Shaarey Zedek.

Ms. Goldberg holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Ohio State University. She and her husband are the proud parents of a son and two daughters.

Margo Pernick

Margo Pernick

Margo Pernick is Executive Director of The Jewish Fund in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. With assets of over $62 million and an annual grantmaking budget of approximately $2.8 million, Ms. Pernick works in partnership with a 35 member board of directors to set the direction and grantmaking strategy for supporting non-profit organizations in the health and human service fields in the metropolitan Detroit area.

Prior to beginning her service with The Jewish Fund in 2008, Ms. Pernick was a program officer at the Kresge Foundation in Troy, Michigan, serving on the health and human service teams for three years. In the sixteen years prior to her Kresge employment, Ms. Pernick worked for the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit. There she developed and managed programs in the areas of early childhood education, special needs inclusion, cultural arts and Jewish education, marketing and fundraising. She served for ten years as the assistant executive director for the JCC during that time period.

Earlier in her professional career, Ms. Pernick held positions in child welfare agencies in Detroit in the areas of foster care, adoption and child abuse prevention. She also served as program director for Hillel at The University of Michigan.

Ms. Pernick has served on several community boards, including the Detroit College Promise, Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit and Temple Kol Ami. She is married and the mother of three daughters.

Pat Mayer
Senior Administrative Assistant / Grants Manager
Pat Mayer

Pat Mayer has worked as the Grants Manager for The Jewish Fund since 2009. In addition, Ms. Mayer also serves as Senior Administrative Assistant for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit’s Jewish Women’s Foundation, and the Planning & Allocations Department, where she has worked for over 20 years.

Prior to her current positions at the Federation and The Jewish Fund, Ms. Mayer was the Office Manager and Inside Sales Director for a metals manufacturer and distributor in Wixom.

Ms. Mayer holds an Associate’s Degree from Oakland Community College and is involved in a variety of community activities and veterans organizations, including serving as a poll worker at elections.

She currently resides in Highland Township with her husband Jack, their Westie, Scruffy, and cat, Snowball. She has two stepsons and two grandchildren.
